2008-9 GRANT AWARD RECIPIENTS
TOUCH POINT CONNECTION (TPC)
Agency Background: TPC launched this Tucson-based program at Amphitheater High School
in the 2008-09 school year. TPC provides success coaches to at-risk high school students to increase
graduation rates. With support from a personal coach, teens graduate and develop life, workplace, and
coping skills that serve them now and for a lifetime. Through coaching, TPC is breaking the cycle of
crime, poverty, and government assistance.
Focus of the 2009 SCCF Grant: Teen Coaching, Volunteer Training and Program Evaluation
During the 2009-10 school year, TPC will provide one-on-one coaching to 50-75 teens at Amphitheater High School.
It will recruit, train, support, and build the skills of 50 volunteer coaches. Importantly, it also will
conduct a rigorous evaluation of coaching results for all participants including: measuring school attendance,
grades, discipline referrals, high school graduation, pursuit of higher education, student attitudes toward
school, student satisfaction with coaching, and volunteer satisfaction with the program.
